When you read the dictionary, some words are obvious

Take the phrase
"beyond the black stump" for instance,
people have been near it, over it, around it, under it, behind it
BUT nobody has actually found it.
It means absolutely nowhere but also means everywhere, you can't go wrong.
What about the most famous phrase in Australia
"G'day Mate" ,
It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from,
Once again you can't go wrong, you don't have to remember anybody's name to be friendly,
everybody is mate and you can't get much more friendlier than that, can you mate.
It is for these and other reasons we use these words all the time,
not so silly after all are we.
